Le Dimanche 21 Juillet 2024 – Prieurale de Cunault concert de Trompette, Trombone et Orgue

“Music feeds on everything that is foreign to it”

Modest Moussorgski’s masterpiece ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, which evokes an imaginary visit to an art collection, perfectly illustrates this quote from Xavier Darasse. Originally written for piano in 1874 and since arranged and transcribed many times, this famous composition is most often performed and recorded in the symphonic version produced by Maurice Ravel in 1922.

The version proposed for the Heures Musicales de Cunault, produced by Jean-Jacques Metz and Michel Bourcier, exploits the sound resources of the 3 instruments and allows the full range of organ registration techniques to be explored. The programme will be rounded off by a number of major works from a variety of sources.

    Mikrokosmos
    Choeur a capella

Concert du Chœur Mikrokosmos - Heures Musicales de Cunault 18 août 2024

Musical direction, set design and staging: Loïc Pierre

An ardent defender of French choral art, Mikrokosmos offers an exceptional palette of sounds, nurtured by unusual artistic adventures. Led by a troupe of young singers and the winner of twenty international awards, Mikrokosmos is a “choral art laboratory” that cultivates audacity.

With Mikrokosmos, the stage is set ablaze, choral art crackles and opens up to all audiences. Over the past 30 years, the choir’s palette has expanded considerably, without any aesthetic boundaries or ankylosing chapels, while retaining its unchanging base: the deployment of languages, rhythmic fever and incandescent harmonies, combined with a powerful metaphorical embodiment, now form Mikrokosmos’s signature in the service of choral art.
